Nick Carter continues to defend himself against sexual assault claims as he adds new name to defamation lawsuit seeking $2.3 million
In the new lawsuit he has denied the accusations made against him and claimed the allegations were part of a conspiracy to harass him. He intends to clear his name.
Carter was in court for a hearing after Schuman and her father Jerome had sought to block a countersuit he filed after she had sued him claiming he had sexually assaulted her in 2002, TMZ reported. In filing the lawsuit last year, Schuman cited a new bill in California that allows the lifting of the statute of limitations for civil actions, as she hopes to have a judge review the information in the case. Carter's lawyer Wakayama, told TMZ in a statement at the time about the legal moves: 'Melissa Schuman has been peddling this tale for many years, but her allegation was false when she first made it back in 2017 - and it still is.'
