While Cannon spoke highly of Carey, he stated he started to second guess his career accomplishments at the time and wondered if the reason he was given a position at Island Def Jam was due to his marriage. 'I was at Island Def Jam... but then I'm like, "Dang did I just get this job 'cause... Mariah's over here selling tens of millions of records?"
