New Predator film titled Badlands in the works following success of prequel Prey... almost 40 YEARS after Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers' original sci-fi thriller
20th Century Studios is launching another installment in the Predator franchise. Director Dan Trachtenberg has been tapped to helm a follow-up to his 2022 film Prey, a prequel to 1987's Predator.
'It was exciting to tell a story that’s set 300 years in the past, but it was challenging to develop a creature that would feel at once older, but also far more advanced,' Trachtenberg told Polygon in 2021. Badlands will mark the sixth installment of the popular sci-fi franchise that kicked off with John McTiernan directing Schwarzenegger, Weathers and Jesse Ventura as commandos being stalked in a jungle by a deadly extraterrestrial hunter.
