High street fashion retailer New Look is to close 26 stores in the Republic of Ireland with the loss of 350 jobs, after the Irish wing of the business went into liquidation

The High Court in Ireland gave the green light for provisional liquidators on Thursday, as New Look aims to wind down its Irish operations after years of "sustained losses and challenging market conditions". Following the court's decision, employees at the 26 locations were informed, and the high street fashion giant - which made its debut in the Irish market in 2003 - announced that a 30-day staff consultation process has commenced. The party's enterprise spokesman George Lawlor stated: "New Look Retailers Ireland Ltd must recognise the human impact of this decision and immediately engage with workers in a meaningful and constructive manner.
