While most seem to agree that he is a great actor in his own right, his characters have often been on the soft and nerdy side, leaving many to wonder why James Gunn cast him as the dastardly and daring Lex Luthor. These worries have been slightly alleviated with the release of the trailer for Superman, which gave fans their first official look at Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Though much like Ebenezer Scrooge having a change of heart during Christmas time, Gunn himself has decided to be generous during the holiday that is Lex Luthor’s 85th anniversary, gifting fans a new look at Hoult as the villain.
