The youngster started what seemed like a modest petition as part of a school project, suggesting a national day off to mark Attenborough's centenary next year. Upon learning that the respected broadcaster would be celebrating his 100th birthday next year, he decided to launch a petition for a national Bank Holiday to mark the event. Sophie spoke fondly of her son's enthusiasm for nature, saying: "Growing up, he would go onto YouTube to watch a lot of weird and wonderful facts about the world."
