New AI Player Staircase Studios Formed By ‘Divergent’ Producer Pouya Shahbazian; Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Kenneth Lerer And Aryeh Bourkoff Among Its Advisors And Backers
Staircase Studios AI, a new producer of films, TV series and video games, promises "near-major-studio" levels of quality at budgets under $500,000.
It tells true story of Johanna “Hannie” Schaft, a young woman who dropped out of college to join the Dutch Resistance during WWII, eventually becoming one of their most talented assassins and one of the Nazis’ most wanted enemies. In its launch announcement, Staircase said it is “committed to working with union members in many production departments.” Actors, the company said, will be paid standard industry rates to voice all dialogue in every script. Sundown – Based on Nick Hurwitch’s script, which appeared on the 2023 Black List, the film features monsters that roam in daylight and keep a small, rural family confined to a nocturnal lifestyle.
