New ‘Hunger Games’ Novel From Suzanne Collins Coming In 2025
The upcoming novel will be the fifth in the Hunger Games series.
While Collins pointed to such influences as Greek mythology and Roman gladiators for her earlier entries in the series, she said the new one owes a nod to Enlightenment philosopher David Hume. “With Sunrise on the Reaping, I was inspired by David Hume’s idea of implicit submission and, in his words, ‘the easiness with which the many are governed by the few.’ The story also lent itself to a deeper dive into the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative. The film adaptation of Songbirds and Snakes starring Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler was released last year.
