Netflix’s Prince Documentary Will Not Be Released Amid New Deal With Estate

Netflix has canceled the release of a six-part docuseries about Prince amid a deal with the late musician's estate.

In a statement shared by Netflix and the Prince Estate, they announced a new documentary in development with exclusive content from the 7x Grammy winner’s archive, which forces the streamer to pull its project directed by Ezra Edelman. In September, The New York Times reported that Edelman’s project was stuck in legal limbo after it took nearly five years to make. Although Netflix and Edelman retained final cut, using materials from the archive, the estate was allowed to review the doc for factual accuracy.
