Netflix viewers 'crying themselves to sleep' over heartbreaking One Day twist
Netflix viewers were left devastated and heartbroken at the ending of the new TV show adaptation of One Day, which follows best friends turned lovers Dexter and Emma across 20 years
The highly-anticipated show, which spread Dexter Mayhew (played by Leo Woodall) and Emma Morley's (Ambika Mod) slow-burning love story across 14 episodes, seemed like a classic will-they-won't-they saga for 13 of those. In a shocking moment, Emma, who is riding her bike at the time, collides with a car, meaning Dex and Em's love story is cruelly brought to a dramatic and premature end. And despite the popular book having already been translated to the big screen for a 2011 film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, the latest generation weren't expecting the devastating twist.
