Netflix Unveils $1 Billion Mexican Investment Over the Next 4 Years


Netflix has committed $1 billion to Mexico's audiovisual industry over four years to boost production and back local talent.

In a landmark announcement that underscores Netflix ‘s continued close relationship with Mexico ’s audiovisual industry, Co-CEO Ted Sarandos revealed a $1 billion investment in the country over the next four years. The company’s first series outside the United States, “Club de Cuervos,” was a paradigm-shifting landmark for the nascent streaming ecosystem and laid the foundation for Netflix’s local production strategy, emulated in other countries around the world. From the Oscar-winning “Roma” to “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” – which featured work done at the Taller de Chucho studio in Guadalajara – the platform has consistently showcased the rich tapestry of Mexican storytelling.
