Netflix drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story has come under fire for its depiction, as one of the real life murders has taken to social media to issue a statement

New Netflix crime drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story has been slammed by one of the real-life convicted murderers it portrays, in an unexpected twist. The trial became a media sensation, but some have now criticised what they claim are factual errors in the show, including implications of an incestuous relationship between the both of the brothers. Continuing, Erik wrote: “It is sad for me to know that Netflix’s dishonest portrayal of the tragedies surrounding our crime have taken the painful truths several steps backward - back through time to an era when the prosecution built a narrative on a belief system that males were not sexually abused, and that males experienced rape trauma differently than women…
