Neon Buys North American Rights to Mohammad Rasoulof’s ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’
Neon has acquired the North American rights to 'The Seed of the Sacred Fig,' directed by Mohammad Rasoulof.
The film — which stars Setareh Abdolmaleki, Zahra Rostami, Amineh Mazroei Arani and Niousha AkhshiVardoogh — follows Iman, an investigating judge in the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, who grapples with mistrust and paranoia as nationwide political protests intensify and his gun mysteriously disappears. Suspecting the involvement of his wife Najmeh and his daughters Rezvan and Sana, he imposes drastic measures at home, causing tensions to rise. The film is produced by Rasoulof, Amin Sadraei, Mani Tilgner, Rozita Hendijanian, Simon, and co-produced by ARTE France Cinéma with the support of Aide aux Cinémasdu Monde, Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, and Institut français with the support of MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.
