After leaving Neighbours in 2000, Jesse continued to build his acting career, appearing in films like Uptown Girls with Dakota Fanning and Winning London with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson. Speaking to TV Week about his reasons for joining the Disney series, Jesse said: "I left Chicago Fire, and then I started a family, and I was doing that for a while, then Last Days of the Space Age came up." Before finding love with Kali, Jesse was linked to singer Louise Griffiths until 2010 and was previously engaged to his House co-star Jennifer Morrison, but they split in 2007.
