Neighbours icon who starred with Kylie Minogue died at 54 after shock health battle
An original Neighbours star, who later returned to the Aussie soap, sadly passed away at just 54 years old after a battle against cancer, his family confirmed
His success was short-lived, as less than a year later the soap's producers soon decided to swap Darius for Jason, reportedly to increase the character's appeal. After leaving Neighbours, dogged by rumours that his lateness on set was to blame, Darius went on to star in rival new soap Home And Away, as Gary Samuels. His acting chops weren't just for Neighbours; he graced other shows like Prisoner and earned a Logie Award for Best Juvenile Performance in the miniseries All The Rivers Run in 1984.
