NBCUniversal Split: Comcast To Spin Off Cable Channels Under Mark Lazarus; Donna Langley Consolidates Power, NBC, Peacock & Bravo Stay Put


Donna Langley is in the NBCU driver's seat as the Comcast-owned company prepares to spinoff MSNBC & other cable channels

Putting Donna Langley firmly in the corporate driver’s seat, Comcast boss Brian Roberts has also decided it’s time for NBCUniversal to shed some cable channel weight. After indicating in recent months that a culling was coming, the Philadelphia-based telecommunications giant is expected to announce Wednesday that Langley will become chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment and Studios, Deadline has confirmed. Comcast signaled plans to split on an Oct. 31 earnings call, with President Mike Cavanagh saying, “Like many of our peers in media, we’re experiencing the effects of the transition of our video businesses and have been studying the best path forward for these assets.”
