My fire pit moment: trying out Love Islanders’ secondhand style
As eleventh series begins, enthusiasts try on preloved items worn by former Islanders at east London pop-up event
When Love Island returned to TV this week for its eleventh series, the headlines were dominated by the addition of the first ever celebrity contestant, ex-Towie star Joey Essex. These clothes are, almost without fail, accompanied by vertiginous heels to gingerly walk from the pool to the signature Love Island location – the fire pit. Photograph: Sarah Lee/The GuardianI wear a lot of secondhand clothes and so off I went in a black skirt found on a Halloween rail of a charity shop, a much-loved B-52s T-shirt and deck shoes bought on Vinted.
