Music Producer Richard Perry Dies at 82
He produced “You’re so Vain” for Carly Simon and Nilsson Schmilsson for Harry Nilsson.
Perry got his start in the music biz doing novelty songs like “Safe as Milk” by Captain Beefheart and Tiny Tim’s immortal “Tiptoe Through the Tulips.” He worked extensively with Harry Nilsson, producing his most critically-acclaimed work Nilsson Schmilsson, a.k.a. ), Perry spoke of working with Nilsson, their falling out after Son of Schmilsson, and the time spent in between partying with Ringo Starr and the original Hollywood Vampires. Perry also made albums with Barbra Streisand, Donna Summer, and Rod Stewart.
