Mumford & Sons Go Back to Their Roots on New Song ‘Rushmere’

Mumford & Sons are back with a new song, 'Rushmere,' the title track from their first album since 2018's 'Delta.'

The song is vintage stomp-and-holler festival folk, with Marcus Mumford ’s vocals sailing over thumping drums and the ceaseless tumble of acoustic guitar and banjo. As a press release note, Rushmere is the name of a pond in Wimbledon Common in southwest London, which is where Mumford, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane hung out and first started to conceive of putting a band together. The album notably marks the group’s first as a trio following the departure of Winston Marshall, who left the band partly over political differences with his bandmates.
