MPA Awards to Honor ‘Wicked’ Director Jon M. Chu, Senate Majority Leader John Thune
'Wicked' director Jon M. Chu will be honored by the Motion Picture Association with its Creator Award.
Chu delivered one of 2024’s biggest box office hits with “ Wicked,” the musical fantasy starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande and based on the long-running Broadway show. “Our MPA award recipients represent so many fundamental facets of filmmaking: the creative minds who produce movies, the policymakers who help make production possible, and the experts who defend intellectual property – the very lifeblood of our industry. Thune will be feted for his “longtime pragmatic leadership on policies that protect freedom for innovation, encourage competitive choice for consumers, and drive growth for the American economy,” the MPA said.
