Movie star beloved by millions dead - as tributes paid to actor who 'played with the best of them'


A movie star who appeared in films including West Side Story and Mary Poppins has sadly passed away, his son has confirmed, calling him 'a true legend of stage and screen'

Bobby Banas made a name for himself as 'Jets' gang member Joyboy in the iconic 1961 musical West Side Story, and he dazzled audiences as a chimney sweep in Mary Poppins in 1964. His filmography also boasts memorable performances such as dancing in Made in Paris and sharing a kiss with Marilyn Monroe in the 1960 musical comedy Let's Make Love. He gained a new wave of fans in 2012 when a clip from 1964 of him performing the Nitty Gritty on CBS' The Judy Garland Show went viral.
