Monty Don’s wife Sarah ‘unable to walk or stand for a year’ after hospital blunder

Star of Gardeners' World Monty Don and his wife Sarah previously opened up about her health issues in their book, The Jewel Garden.

Sarah and Monty have been married since 1983 (Credit: Shutterstock) After giving birth to their daughter, Sarah revealed in The Jewel Garden that she was “ill for months, despite having had a supposedly film-star birth at an enormously expensive private London hospital”. “I had a slipped disc, a result of the bodged delivery, and was so anaemic that I needed a blood transfusion,” Sarah continued. She explained that her injuries “were not acknowledged” and that when she “tried to leave the hospital”, she had to “walk down three flights of stairs because the lift had broken”.
