Monty Don's parents 'didn't talk to him' after making 'irresponsible' £15k decision

Gardeners' World presenter Monty Don has opened up about a 'crazy' decision he made in his 20s that led to his parents not speaking to him for six months

The horticultural pro took a trip down memory lane, recalling the financial challenges that young people face today compared to his own experiences at 26. After falling in love with gardening at 17, a passion ignited by an "ecstatic moment" whilst sowing carrots, he began his television journey with a segment on ITV's This Morning, reports the Liverpool Echo. It wasn't long before Alan Titchmarsh himself recommended Monty for a position on the iconic show Gardeners' World, catapulting him into becoming the centre of his own BBC and Channel 4 programmes.
