Monica praised Ariana Grande for making the 'Boy Is Mine' Remake 'something of her own' instead of doing a straight sample.

Grande’s “The Boy is Mine” with Brandy and Monica is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2025 Grammys, against Beyoncé and Post Malone’s “Levii’s Jeans”, Gracie Abrams and Taylor Swift’s “Us”, Charli XCX and Billie Eilish’s “Guess,” and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s “Die With a Smile.” (Grande’s album Eternal Sunshine is also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album.) Shortly after the song dropped in June, Monica spoke to Entertainment Tonight about “closing the gaps” of her relationship with Brandy.
