‘Modern Family’ star Julie Bowen is recalling the time she helped her onscreen daughter, Sarah Hyland, get out of an abusive relationship

Julie Bowen and Sarah Hyland.Kevin Mazur/WireImageBowen, 54, who played Claire Dunphy in the hit ABC sitcom, recalled how she came to her onscreen daughter’s aid in real life on the Monday, June 3, episode of “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast.” In September 2014, Hyland, best known for playing eldest Dunphy daughter, Haley, was granted a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Matt Prokop, who she accused of physical and verbal abuse during their five-year relationship. Sarah Hyland, who began filming the ABC sitcom at age 18, shared several photos on Instagram of herself alongside her TV family over the years.
