Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah Among National Medal of Arts Recipients at White House Ceremony: ‘Crying Tears of Joy’

Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah were among the National Medal of Arts Recipients at a White House ceremony on Monday (Oct. 21).

President Biden also handed out the prestigious honors on Monday (Oct. 21) to Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, as well as a posthumous medal for Selena Quintanilla. “I know the power of the women in this room to get things done,” he said, adding that the day’s female winners were “proving a woman can do anything a man can do, and then some, that includes being president of the United States of America.” Last year’s event for the 2021 Medal of Arts recipients included honors for Bruce Springsteen, Gladys Knight, Jose Feliciano, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mindy Kaling and more.
