“Anora” star Mikey Madison recently told Collider that she underestimated just how furiously “ Scream ” fans would react to her character, Amber Freeman, being revealed as Ghostface and thus responsible for the death of David Arquette’s beloved Dewey in 2022’s “Scream.” Madison was not aware of the “Scream” franchise’s passionate following when she accepted the role. “I have to be honest, when I did the film, it sounds naive, but I wasn’t so aware of the huge fan base that the franchise has, that I’ve now been able to discover,” Madison said. Madison is currently a frontrunner to land a best actress Oscar nomination for her performance in Sean Baker’s “Anora,” which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes earlier this year.
