Despite his involvement in writing the script, Flanagan is unlikely to direct due to commitments to other projects, including a new adaptation of The Exorcist for Universal and a Carrie series for Amazon MGM Studios. Over the years, multiple versions of the character have been introduced, each with their own backstory and powers, ranging from the original Basil Karlo, a failed actor, to later iterations like Matt Hagen and Preston Payne. Clayface is also expected to appear in James Gunn’s Creature Commandos animated series, with Alan Tudyk lending his voice to the DC Comics character.
