Michelle Collins, 61, praises EastEnders for giving women her age a platform and says her return to the soap was to give them 'visibility': 'We want real women with lines on their faces'

The actress, 61, starred as Cindy Beale on the BBC soap opera from 1988 until 1998 and reprised her role last year.

It was revealed in June 2023 that Michelle was returning to the soap with her ex-husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and their son Peter (Thomas Law). Fans were led to believe that the mother died in childbirth after plotting to kill her then-husband, however it turns out that 26 years later Cindy is very much alive and has been living a glamorous life in the sun. In a further twist, she was revealed to be the absent wife of Queen Vic landlord George Knight (Colin Salmon), and mother to their two daughters Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna (Molly Rainford).
