Michael McStay, Coronation Street and Doctor Who actor, dies at 92


Michael McStay, the prolific TV actor known for roles in 'Coronation Street' and 'Doctor Who,' has died. He was 92.

McStay died peacefully in his sleep of heart failure on May 11, following a lunch with his children, reports the Daily Mail, who first broke the news of his death. A prolific actor across several decades, McStay found early fame as Sergeant Perryman on the ITV detective series No Hiding Place. McStay made his final onscreen appearance as Alan Hoyle in the ITV soap Coronation Street, a role he took over from actor John Woodvine when the character returned in 2011.
