Meta Promotes GOP-Affiliated Exec Joel Kaplan to Head of Global Affairs Ahead of Trump Inauguration
Joel Kaplan, a Meta exec with ties to the Republican party, is taking over as the company's president of global affairs with the exit of Nick Clegg.
“As a new year begins, I have come to the view that this is the right time for me to move on from my role as President, Global Affairs at Meta,” Clegg wrote in a public Facebook post Thursday. “Joel is quite clearly the right person for the right job at the right time — ideally placed to shape the company’s strategy as societal and political expectations around technology continue to evolve,” Clegg wrote in the post. “With his extensive experience at Meta, and his previous record of public service as Chairman of the FCC, I know Kevin will be a strong leader of the policy org and will continue to be a great partner to Joel,” Clegg wrote.
