Met Office issues rare amber warning for New Year's Eve as 'dangerous' weather looms
An amber warning for rain has been issued for parts of northern Scotland, just one of a swathe of new alerts issued by the Met Office for New Year's Eve
The amber notice kicks off at midnight on Monday December 30 and remains until 5pm on New Year's Eve, with up to 70mm of rain possibly hammering down in this time frame. Looking ahead, the Met Office warns: "Further unsettled weather to come, with frequent heavy showers and strong winds into New Year's Day.
