Met Office issues rare 'amber' snow warning – with full list of places due to be hit


The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for snow in the UK as Storm Bertie is expected to bring a rare set of conditions to many parts of the country

According to the Met Office, the severe weather alert may lead to travel delays, potential vehicle strandings, and power outages, as well as disruptions to services like mobile phone coverage. Wales (Cardiff, Conwy) and Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast), along with the Midlands (Birmingham, Northampton), East Anglia (Norwich, Ipswich) and the north (Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle) are also set to be affected. Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin, giving an update on TikTok, said: "Heavy snow is expected over parts of northern England and Scotland - a short sharp burst on Saturday.
