Met Office issues hurricane alert for the UK after summer of heatwaves
Hurricane Ernesto's path is set to hit the UK in the coming days, with weather forecasters issuing warnings of heavy wind and rain as a category 2 hurricane
Heavy wind and rain warnings have been issued starting Wednesday evening, particularly affecting the north and west, while the southeast may experience warmer and drier conditions. Deputy Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, David Oliver, advised: "The most likely scenario is for a period of unsettled weather from Wednesday, especially in the north and west with heavy rain and strong winds possible, whilst it may be warmer and less wet towards the southeast. Look forward to another delightful day with plenty of warm sunshine, although it'll be cloudier and windier up north with the odd shower, potentially heavy at times.
