Met Office confirms when and where 'severe' snow is going to fall

The Met Office has said that there will be a "severe change" in the weather across the UK from next week with "severe snow" set to hit parts of the country

The weather is set for another dramatic turn as we approach the new year, with the Met Office issuing a warning for potential "severe" snowfall in parts of the UK next week as the mercury takes a steep dive. The latest Met Office weather maps are indicating that Scotland, especially the north, could be in for a snowy surprise with significant snow and hail expected by the early hours of Tuesday morning (31 December). The Met Office's long-range forecast from 31 December to 9 January suggests that snowfall is set to affect large swathes of the UK, including much of England, reports the Manchester Evening News.
