Menendez Brothers' Release in Limbo After L.A. County DA Loses Reelection

Erik and Lyle Menendez’s prison release is in limbo after L.A. County DA George Gascon, who called for their resentencing, lost his bid for reelection

The political loss comes after Gascón recommended late last month that Erik, 53, and Lyle, 56, who are currently serving life sentences for the 1989 murder of their parents, José and Kitty Menendez, be resentenced to add the possibility for parole. Kim Kardashian is thanking Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón after he officially recommended Erik and Lyle Menéndez be resentenced due to new evidence (and amid renewed public interest) in their murder convictions. With Gascón set to leave office before a December 11 hearing on a potential resentencing of the brothers, Erik and Lyle could face new challenges trying to get released.
