The actor, 61, had received a text claiming he had missed a delivery and needed to pay a small fee to receive it. But the message was a hoax and Neil felt 'foolish'.
Neil is now starring opposite former Coronation Street actress Sally Lindsay in the in Channel 5 drama Love Rat, which is about a holiday romance con. Neil's real-life scamming comes shortly after he admitted that he regrets his affair with Amanda Holden which infamously ended her marriage to Les Dennis in the early 2000s. Former Loose Women star Sally - who became known for her role as Shelley Unwin on Coronation Street - has become a regular face on Channel 5 with her TV series The Madam Blanc Mysteries
