After growing up in Newport Beach, 'Uglies' director McG's River Jetty Restaurant Group has been tapped to operate The Lido Theater.

The Uglies director’s River Jetty Restaurant Group has been tapped as the new operator of The Lido Theater as it reopens following a restoration to its original Art Deco design, just in time to host screenings for next month’s Newport Beach Film Festival. Born in Michigan, McG (real name Joseph McGinty Nichol) grew up in Newport Beach, where he attended Corona del Mar High School with Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath. He produced the group’s 1995 debut album Lemonade and Brownies and directed their ‘Caboose’ video, going on to conceive visuals for the likes of Korn, Cypress Hill, Sublime, Smash Mouth and The Offspring.
