Maximus is back! Russell Crowe returns to the Colosseum in Rome to perform with his band... after ditched star admitted he was 'uncomfortable' with idea of Paul Mescal-starring Gladiator sequel


Gladiator 2 was recently seen shooting in Sussex , with Paul Mescal taking over the lead role from original star Russell Crowe.

Crowe is lead singer for The Gentlemen Barbers, whose members he has been friendly with for 30 years after they worked alongside the A-list actor in his previous bands Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts and The Ordinary Fear of God. Russell Crowe, 60, (pictured) showed off his vocal chops on Sunday as he performed live at the Teatro di Venere in the archaeological park of the Colosseum in Rome Crowe won an Academy Award for his role in the original Gladiator, which first hit screens in 2000 and earned close to half a billion dollars at the box office.
