Max’s ‘Beleza Fatal’ Turns To Whodunit Telenovela Plot For Series Finale: Who Killed Benjamin Argento?
Max produced its first Brazilian telenovela with Beleza Fatal, known in English as Scars of Beauty. For its series finale, it borrowed from the classic whodunit plotline to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Social media has been abuzz with the series, with viewers creating memes of Camila Pitanga’s extravagant and quotable Lola, the main villain of the telenovela. It creates a community where viewers all watch simultaneously, a phenomenon Brazil’s TV Globo has used for telenovelas like Vale Tudo and Avenida Brasil, to name a few. The killer’s face is not seen on camera, but viewers can see her wearing oversized sunglasses and a head scarf as she enters the hospital, where Benjamin is telling all of his family he doesn’t like any of them.
