Matthew, who played Chandler Bing in Friends, had a long battle with drug and alcohol addiction but claimed he had been sober for the last 18 months before his death. In his memoir released before his death, Matthew mentioned a woman named Morgan Moses, his live-in sober companion, who he referred to as Erin. Other factors contributing to his death included drowning, heart disease, and the impact of the prescription drug buprenorphine, used for treating opioid addiction.
