Matthew Macfadyen reveals why he felt miscast as Mr. Darcy in 'Pride & Prejudice': 'I'm not dishy enough'
Macfadyen discussed Pride & Prejudice as one of his early major career successes while sitting down with CBS Mornings. He played Jane Austen's beloved hero in Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation of the novel, opposite Keira Knightley's Elizabeth Bennet. Part of Macfadyen's reservations might have been because Colin Firth's portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 1995 TV miniseries production of Pride and Prejudice is so beloved (so much so that he basically repeated it in multiple Bridget Jones films).
