Martin Roberts will risk speeding up his 'demise' after near death experience in a bid to help troubled children get their lives on track as they work on £500,000 renovation project


Martin Roberts says he's willing to take any risk in his pursuit of helping others after his near death experience when he underwent emergency heart surgery back in 2022.

The television presenter and property expert, 60, was told he had 'a few hours to live' and underwent life-saving surgery after suffering from pericardial effusion, a build-up of fluid in the structure around the heart. The broadcaster has since found joy in seeing the change in troubled children who asked to assist with his project after difficult times, with the youngsters earning qualifications for their work. He told WalesOnline: 'I often act a bit on gut instinct, and possibly don't always tell my wife because sometimes I think there's a danger I will be talked out of things because they appear daft on the surface, I only sort of mention it when it's too late!
