Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef and More Call on SAG-AFTRA Leaders to Protect Pro-Palestine Members From Being Blacklisted (Exclusive)
More than 700 union members signed the open letter that also called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and condemned violence against journalists.
In the letter, the signatories are demanding that SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher and other guild leaders call for a permanent ceasefire in Israel and Gaza, protect members from being blacklisted for their pro-Palestine views and condemn the violence against journalists. Actor and SAG-AFTRA national MENA committee chair Amin El Gamal has been “ignored for months” by leadership and received calls “in hushed tones” from union staff, who promised meetings but never followed up, he claimed in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter. Riz Ahmed, Common, Busy Philipps, Richa Moorjani, Griffin Dunne, Kendrick Sampson, Indya Moore, Sara Ramirez, Amrit Kaur, Bruce Cohen, James Schamus, Lorenza Izzo and Saul Williams also signed the open letter.
