Mariah Carey Hilariously Throws Shade at the Grammys at Black Music Collective Event


“Is this a real Grammy? I haven’t seen one in soooooo long,” she joked.

Mariah Carey received the Recording Academy’s Global Impact Award at the 2024 Black Music Collective on Thursday night (Feb. 1), and the elusive chanteuse poked some fun at the Grammys during her speech. She has won a total of five including best new artist and best female pop vocal performance for “Vision of Love” in 1991, as well as three Grammys in 2006 for “We Belong Together” and The Emancipation of Mimi. Mariah Carey attends the Recording Academy Honors presented by the Black Music Collective in Los Angeles on Feb. 1, 2024.
