Maria Bakalova Thriller ‘Electra’ Sets North American Release From Level 33 (EXCLUSIVE)


"Electra," a new dramatic thriller starring Maria Bakalova, hss sold U.S. distribution rights to Level 33.

“Electra” is described as a potboiler in the vein of “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Saltburn.” Bakalova stars with Abigail Cowen (Netflix’s “Fate: the Winx Saga”) and Jack Farthing (“Spencer,” “Rain Dogs”). Packaged and shot in Italy, “Electra” follows two journalists who travel to the lush Italian villa of a famous musician and his partner for an interview, but all is not as it seems and the trip spirals into deceit and deadly betrayals. The director said her debut film aims to “explore the dangers of leaving wounds unhealed and the masks we wear to belong — how avoiding the hard work of self-confrontation only deepens the fracture.” She and Paul Sado are also credited screenwriters.
