Man Who Hit Johnny, Matthew Gaudreau Hoped They Were Alive After Crash


Sean M. Higgins, who struck and and killed Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, had hoped they were still alive after the accident

In body cam footage released by the New Jersey State Police, Sean M. Higgins — who hit Johnny, 31, a star with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, and Matthew, 29, with his Jeep when the brothers were riding bicycles in Oldmans Township, N.J. on August 29 — can be seen and heard in the immediate aftermath of the incident. Higgins was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, possession of an open container and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. The mother of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau expressed her gratitude for the emotional tributes honoring her late sons in the aftermath of their tragic deaths.
