Magnify Acquires Taiwanese Fencing Thriller ‘Pierce,’ Releases Teaser Ahead of Cannes Market Launch (EXCLUSIVE)
Magnolia's sales arm Magnify has acquired Nelicia Low's Taiwanese fencing thriller 'Pierce,' and released a teaser ahead of its Cannes market launch.
“Pierce” follows Jie, a young fencer reconnecting with his estranged older brother Han, who mysteriously returns after seven years in juvenile prison for killing an opponent during a fencing competition. “Her impeccable direction is heightened by an exceptional creative team and cast performances in service of a brilliant slow burn thriller.” The film adds to Magnify’s lineup, which includes Cannes selection “Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point,” directed by Tyler Taormina; Rafael Manuel’s “Filipiñana” in partnership with Film4, which is currently in production; Sundance hit “Veni Vidi Vici”; Cannes 2023 selection “The Delinquents”; and Venice critics’ hit “Hesitation Wound.”
