MAFS Timothy Smith: Full inside story of how fan favourite went from bartending in Canada to risking it all for American drug lord 'Mr Brown'

Timothy Smith had always wanted to fly helicopters but did not get his chance until he fell into a drug syndicate smuggling hundreds of kilograms of cannabis from Canada into the US each week.

The Australian had been fascinated with helicopters since childhood but his school grades were not good enough to join the air force, so he accepted the customer's offer to pay for flying lessons. A disastrous run from Chilliwack began when Smith's credit card would not work in a fuel pump and local airport authorities arrived to fill up his tank. Smith served his time at the SeaTac federal detention centre just outside Seattle alongside mafia bosses, outlaw motorcycle gang leaders and other major organised crime figures.
