Madonna’s Lawyers Blast ‘False’ Announcement of Settlement In Lawsuit Over Delayed Concerts

Madonna's lawyers denied that they reached a settlement in a lawsuit accusing the star of breaking the law by starting concerts later than scheduled.

Attorneys for Madonna and Live Nation say they’re facing a “harassment campaign” from the lawyers suing over delayed starts to the singer’s concerts, aimed at “extorting a lucrative settlement” rather than actually litigating the case. “To be clear, defendants are not necessarily opposed to settlement if certain terms can be reached,” wrote Jeff Warshafsky, a partner at the law firm Proskauer who reps Madonna and Live Nation. “No reasonable concertgoer — and certainly no Madonna fan — would expect the headline act at a major arena concert to take the stage at the ticketed event time,” her legal team wrote in April.
